I love historical letterboxes.

What I do not understand is why clues are posted prior to planting the letterbox or having it available for finding?

Why not plant then post clues?

Don

Don (et al):

Very good question. This is the first I've seen, thanks for pointing
it out. I somehow missed the original message in this thread, my
reader shows just two (now three) responses.

Hopefully (to satisfy curiosity) the original poster (clue writer,
later placer) will explain?

We had something similar in WI. I finally emailed the webmasters at LBNA
and asked them to remove the listing since it was well over a year old. I
figured "soon" should have been less than 1 year. The webmasters promptly
removed the listing.

"Pre" listing of clues is aggravating to me - I get the notification that a
new box has been planted, yet it hasn't ACTUALLY been planted. I therefore
need to remember to check to see when/if the clues actually appear (or box
actually becomes available).

I wanted this box to be visible for a couple of days, including online clues, for members of the Lincoln Highway Association and the hosting family to review before actually placing the box. The box has been placed, and I've updated the clues.
